St George schedule released

The race schedule for the 2022 Cobb & Co Hotel St George 399 has been confirmed, with three sections to again make up the popular event.

For the sixth consecutive year, the South East Queensland Off Road Racing Association run event will be hosting the opening round of the BFGoodrich Motorsport Australia Off Road Championship (AORC) in the Queensland rural town of St George.

The club has made some changes to the event’s schedule to continue improving it for the overall experience for crews and spectators.

After the success of one of their most significant changes last year, moving Prologue to the Friday after Scrutineering, the club opted to stick with the format for 2022 with the qualifying session to run on Friday afternoon from 3.30pm AEST time.

However, last year’s Friday action also involved the Top 10 Shootout, which took place directly after Prologue before the results were announced at the Cobb & Co Hotel in the evening.

In 2022, Prologue will be the sole activity on Friday and the Top 10 Shootout shifts to Saturday morning before the racing gets underway at 10am local time.

Only one section takes place on Saturday, which will see crews tackle two laps of the 90km course.

On Saturday, from 7:30am AEST, the remaining two sections will be completed with two laps making up the second section and just one lap making up the third and final section.

Both days, the proposed finished time lies at 3pm local time, with the podium ceremony to take place after 4pm on Sunday.

The 2022 Cobb & Co Hotel St George 399 takes place in St George on 18-20 March.
