St George 399 on the final stretch

Shannon Rentsch has won the second heat of the Cobb & Co St George 399 and is on track to take out the first round of the BFGoodrich CAMS Australian Off Road Championship.

Rentsch was just too good in the second section and finished well ahead of second fastest Mark Burrows, who also put on a fantastic display in the section to work his way up from sixth yesterday.

Glen Towers was the next fastest in the section and he was another to also come in faster than Toby Whateley who finished fourth for the section ahead of Steven Graham.

Nick Jackson and Jeff McNiven both moved up the order with the drivers cracking into the top ten fastest section times for the first time this weekend, while a flat tyre to Greg Gartner midway throughout the section saw him drop to eighth fastest.

Josh Howells also found himself back into the top 10 fastest times after a day to forget yesterday,

Competitors will have one more section to complete for the remainder of the day before the podium later this afternoon.
