More than a week has passed since Jack Rhodes heroically took out his maiden Tatts Finke Desert Race title in a performance that could be considered by many as one of the greatest comebacks in recent times.
A roll over in Prologue forced Rhodes to start the field in 14th, but by the end of the first day, the 2016 BFGoodrich CAMS Australian Off Road Champion had worked his way into second place behind a rampaging Toby Price.
On the way back up to Alice Springs, Price suffered heartbreak as he failed to make it to the first checkpoint, much to the disappointment of the 2019 Dakar two-wheel champion.
Price’s downfall opened up the door for Rhodes who made no mistake for the remainder of the race and as his closest rival in Beau Robinson failed to finish, leaving the new father to a comfortable finish in the final stages.
Eventually he crossed the line and the celebrations began, as young Josh Howells managed to pick up his first career podium, while Mark Burrows and Shannon Rentsch enjoyed a tough battle to round out the top five.
With the action now done and dusted – sit back, relax and enjoy some of the sounds of the Australia’s most iconic off road race.
