Price is right for dual campaign

Toby Price is preparing for one of his biggest challenges, as he prepares to take on the Tatts Finke Desert Race in both car and motorcycle.

It won’t be the first time Price has attempted the difficult challenge, which doubles as the second round of the BFGoodrich CAMS Australian Off Road Championship.

Back in 2016, Price won the motorcycle category, tying him for the most wins in Finke Desert Race history, but was runner-up in his first attempt in the car category.

“Since I attempted the double in 2016 and we didn’t claim the win in the truck category, I’ve been extremely keen to try again and was gutted when I was injured last year and couldn’t do the bike,” Price said.

“We’ve had a couple of months to prepare the truck and the bike and I’m feeling good.”
In order to conquer Finke on both two-wheels and four, Price will first run in Extreme 2WD on the first day of the event from Alice Springs to Finke and fly back to the start line in a light aircraft in time for the motorcycle leg to begin and repeat the 230km ride for the second time.

Price will follow the same procedure on day two, driving from Finke to Alice Springs in his Red Bull Trophy Truck and then return to Finke to finish the job.

The passionate Australian has revealed the impressive livery adorned on his truck for the event, with his major sponsor Red Bull prominently displayed.

Price has been preparing his Red Bull Trophy Truck out of Tekno Performance’s state of the art headquarters in Yatala, Queensland for the past several months.

“I can’t wait to get out and do our first test with the truck, this is going to be extremely challenging but rewarding if we can get it done.”

The Tatts Finke Desert Race will be held in central Australia from 8-11 June.
