Off Road calendar rejigged

The BFGoodrich Motorsport Australia Off Road Championship will soon confirm its 2021 calendar, with ongoing lockdowns and border closures forcing a change to the schedule.

The upcoming Hindmarsh Shire Rainbow Desert Enduro will now be held on 25-26 September in the western Victorian town, while the Can-Am Loveday 400 will move to a date slightly later in the year.

Motorsport Australia Director of Motorsport & Commercial Operations Michael Smith said a new calendar would be released in the coming weeks to give competitors the best chance to be part of as many national events as possible.

“Understandably, 2020 and 2021 have been very difficult years for our national events and for all of us to have a firm calendar of events to run to in the changing circumstances,” Smith explained.

“We appreciate the flexibility of our event organisers, competitors and sponsors and hope a new calendar will maximise our opportunities for a strong finish to 2021.

“As previously announced, we have implemented the ‘drop round’ option for this year’s Championship.

“While 2021 has been a very tough year for everyone, we’re really excited about what the future holds for the Championship. Competitors and fans can expect an even bigger calendar in 2022, with more events on the cards for the national championship which highlights its growing stature as off road’s premier Championship.”
