Rural Victorian off road crews have been handed a major boost for this year’s Tatts Finke Desert Race with the Northern Territory border now reopened to regional Victoria.
The eleventh hour opening comes off the back of the newly announced health advice from the Northern Territory Government, declaring regional Victoria no longer a COVID-19 hotspot.
While the Finke Desert Race Committee gave refunds to Victorian entries after they were forced to withdraw due to the Victorian lockdown laws two weeks ago, the new announcement means crews can now attend again if they are able, given the short notice.
The Finke Desert Race Committee will be allowing entrants who had originally withdrawn to re-enter the event by 5pm ACST Wednesday 9 June 2021.
Victorian Crews can get more information on their entry by contacting the Finke team through email at [email protected] or via phone on 08 8952 8886.
Everyone must continue to adhere to the directions of the Northern Territory’s Chief Health Officer and can contact the Northern Territory COVID-19 Hotline on 1800 490 484 for any border related queries.
