Entries are open for the third and final round of the 2018 BFGoodrich CAMS Australian Off Road Championship (AORC), the Hindmarsh Shire Rainbow Desert Enduro, to be held on 10-12 August.
Australia’s best off roaders will converge on the tiny town of Rainbow, 400km north-west of Melbourne, to do battle and ultimately crown the 2018 Australian Off Road Champion.
A true endurance event, AORC competitors will tackle more than 550 kilometres over two days in addition to Saturday morning’s eight kilometre prologue and exciting Top Ten Shootout.
There is plenty at stake for outright and class championship contenders, with increased points available across the weekend in the race for outright and class title honours.
A challenging and gruelling event last year, organisers from the Victorian Off Road Racing Association (VORRA) are promising an even bigger and better event this year after completing track and facility works.
Changes to the course are likely to produce closer racing between the classes and competitors and spectators can also expect improved facilities.
Rainbow locals will again welcome the off road community by hosting scrutineering in the main street from 3pm on Friday. There will be plenty of entertainment for fans including a jumping castle for the kids, music and fire drums to keep warm.
Camping is available at the Rainbow Recreation Reserve, with some powered sites available.
The Hindmarsh Shire Rainbow Desert Enduro will also host round two of the CAMS Victorian Off Road Championship and round eight of the Victorian Off Road Club Shield.
