More than 30 competitors have already booked their place in for Rainbow Desert Enduro, the final round of the 2018 BFGoodrich CAMS Australian Off Road Championship.
With early bird entries closing Sunday 29 July, interested competitors have until Friday 3 August to submit their entry for the second-year event at a discounted rate.
Some of the sport’s biggest names will be heading to Victoria’s west, including nine-time Australian Off Road Champions Shannon and Ian Rentsch, with the current championship leaders on track to break their record.
The Rentschs headline a five-car Pro Buggy class with young gun Josh Howells, who sits just outside the top three, and off road veteran Mark Burrows has also already signed on to compete.
Both the SXS Turbo and Sport classes have the biggest representation so far with 16 competitors between them entered in the Desert Enduro.
Toby Whateley leads the SXS Turbo’s 11 competitors after a brilliant second place in the first round of the season, while Jeff McNiven will be hoping to cement his spot on the podium as a tough battle with Howells looms.
In the SXS Sport class, a big result outright from leader Rick Chambers ahead of the five competitors in the class could see him jump into the top ten outright.
The highest ranked Pro-Lite competitor Alexandra Howells, in ninth outright, has also entered the event alongside fellow class competitor Alan Dixon who sits just one point behind.
With ten competitors already entered across the Extreme 2WD, Production 4WD and Super 1650 Buggy classes, the final round looks to go right down to the wire.
