Ahead of the 2022 Hindmarsh Shire Rainbow Desert Enduro, aorc.com.au looks back on a thrilling season finale in 2019.

The last time the AORC raced at Rainbow was three years ago, and the event was not without challenges.

Heavy rainfall on the Friday night forced organisers to cancel the first day of racing due to unsafe track conditions.

The Victorian Off Road Racing Association (VORRA) managed to get the event to eventually run on Sunday, albeit it was a shortened event.

Despite no rainfall, the course remained extremely wet and the challenging conditions continued to plague those drivers who chose to run, many of which failed to finish Championship contenders Josh Howells and Toby Whateley were among those to DNF after both were involved in a collision on lap one.

By the end of the race, only 13 crews were classified finishers, while just 11 crews completed all after five gruelling laps.

Taking out the eventual victory was Greg Gartner and Jamie Jennings – the Trophy Truck pilots crossing the line behind Dale Martin and Lee Wells, who dropped to second after their compulsory pitstop time was added post-event.

Finishing in third was Mark and Mathew Burrows with the father-son duo also claiming the 2019 AORC title in the process.Click here to view the full results from the event.

Round five of the BFGoodrich Motorsport Australia Off Road Championship is the Hindmarsh Shire Rainbow Desert Enduro 2-4 September.
